Ronald McDonald House Butterfly Garden

Sunrise Rotarians are improving lives in our local community and around the world every day through our service projects. Our signature project is a major enhancement and ongoing maintenance of the butterfly garden at the Ronald McDonald House in Gainesville.

The Dictionary Project

Spelling matters, so we're proud to participate in The Dictionary Project, a nationwide literacy program that helps students become good writers, active readers and resourceful learners.
For many years, Sunrise Rotarians have joined other Rotarians from the Gainesville area to distribute dictionaries to every 3rd grader in our public schools. On average, we distribute a total of about 2200 dictionaries annually to students in more than 120 classes.
This is a great Rotary project. The students get the chance to meet successful adults in their community who care enough about them to bring these dictionaries to their school and present them personally. And Rotarians further their mission of 'service above self.'
The books are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. You should see the happiness on their faces when they receive their very own dictionary.
Did you know that more than 28,415,161 students throughout the U.S. have received dictionaries through the program?
