This Wednesday, our own vice president-elect, Katie Floyd, will be sworn in as a General Magistrate for the Eighth Judicial Circuit. As a General Magistrate, Katie will be assigned to hear civil matters in the Circuit Court; she will also hear matters in Alachua, Levy and Gilchrist counties.

This is quite an honor! As you may or may not know, Katie is a Gainesville native and a graduate of the University of Florida school of law. She is also a nationally-recognized speaker on various technology issues and is a frequent lecturer on the use of technology and the practice of law. She has her own law practice (floydlaw.net), but so as to not conflict with her new position, she will be greatly limiting her law practice. She can still handle some uncontested transactional matters, including preparations of wills, trusts and related documents.

Congratulations, Katie!
